Local
authorities
in
Batangas
has
recently
flagged
down
in
a
checkpoint
at
Star
Toll
Exit
the
vehicle
of
a
notorious
NPA
leader
identified
as
Edwin
Villarin
a.k.a.
Ka
David.
He
has
been
a
fugitive
of
the
law
for
the
murders
of
innocent
civilians
in
Batangas
while
working
with
the
communist
movement.
Instead
of
facing
the
charges
against
him,
he
chose
the
shortest
way
to
escape
reality
that
is,
ending
his
life
through
the
barrel
of
the
gun.
He
might
have
thought
that
it
was
the
bravest
thing
to
do
by
denying
the
authorities
of
the
chance
to
get
hold
of
him.
Or
was
it
done
out
of
fear
or
guilt?
Whatever
he
had
in
mind,
one
thing
is
certain;
he
knew
all
the
while
that
the
long
arms
of
the
law
would
finally
catch
him,
ending
his
atrocities
against
the
Filipino
people.
Once
again,
Villarin’s
case
is
a
glaring
reminder
to
the
Maoist
NPA
that
“whatever
they
sow,
they
will
reap”.
Violence
will
always
be
the
language
of
the
communist
movement
as
manifested
by
NPA
leader’s
suicidal
act.
On
the
other
hand,
the
legal
fronts
of
the
CPP
will
definitely
exploit
this
issue
by
accusing
the
military
and
police
of
foul
play
despite
the
fact
that
the
authorities
were
merely
performing
their
duties
within
the
bounds
of
the
law.
Perhaps,
the
NPA
leader’s
two
companions
who
politely
agreed
to
step
out
of
the
vehicle
could
attest
to
this.
It
was
just
unfortunate
that
Ka
David
did
not
cooperate
like
his
two
companions
but
instead
opted
to
perform
a
“hara-kiri”,
the
Maoist
way.
Indeed,
if
a
rebel
chooses
the
right
path
of
going
back
to
the
folds
of
the
law,
there
will
always
be
light
at
the
end
of
the
tunnel.
But
if
he
decides
to
stick
it
out
with
the
communist
movement
and
continue
to
commit
crimes
against
humanity,
there
is
absolutely
no
way
out
but
death!
Ang taong nabubuhay sa baril, sa baril namamatay.
